Designed for a new car convention area where sales and maintenance of vehicles are the crucial element of the development, the scheme explores new alternative to a 'pollution zone' and turn the concept of 4S stores into a 'green' and attractive place and intervention within the city.
Traditional 4S stores are detached structures, each store has a separate land with only one or two floors intensively consume land area leaving no space for public intervention. The project use a model of collected architecture by 'removing' the land between the blocks and explore vertical axis as a method of reduce footprint both physically and on carbon. High-end functions such as exhibition halls, offices, shops, food courts and other auxiliary functions are placed on the ground levels to create a more human friendly space whilst the maintenance and storage are pushed onto the upper levels reducing the noise implications on the surroundings.. Shopping centres, hotels and other cultural space are Integrate creating a distinctive and unique approach to the car industry in China.
The overall layout of the master plan encourages outdoor activities such as exhibitions, parades and carnivals on designated routes, encouraging people to be outside in a area where although surrounded by cars, but does not experience the air pollution nor the obstruction of vehicles on the roads. The visitors are further protected from the harsh environment by a 'green' roof canopy which 'grows' from the heart of each individual plot but linked to bring natural daylight into the heart of each zone at the same time giving shade and protection to the visitors.
