Sited in a historic part of the city, Tianjin Liutai development is a 370,000sqm mixed-use development comprising seven residential towers, SOHO, office hotel, residential club houses and retail podium. The development goal is to revitalize the area while respecting its cultural and architectural legacy. The architectural intervention facilitates contemporary functions while making reference to the region’s architectural history, which includes both Eastern and Western influences. The functional program and layout refer to historic Chinese planning. Suitably scaled, low rise retail units line the perimeter of the site, enclosing a large protected internal courtyard shared by the residents. The retail perimeter is activated at its poles by the inclusion of hotel, office, SOHO and a historic temple. Community services include on-site day care, public safety and health services.
