The small town of Lijiang has a history of more than 800 years and was once a confluence for trade along the old tea horse road. Lijiang is famous for its orderly system of waterways and bridges. The old town of Lijiang differs from other ancient Chinese cities in architecture, history and the culture of its traditional residents the Nakhi people, it is with this vision that the project combines tradition and modern as one.
Designed as a new cultural tourism and retail complex, the master plan also houses 5-star themed hotels, farms and horse stables to allow the visitors and guests to experience the traditional way of life but also provides modern state-of-the-art technology and brand outlets to suit the daily lifestyle of the 21st century.
Planned with sustainability in mind, strategic photovoltaic panels are hidden with the complex traditional architectural forms to help provide electricity, rainwater vegetations are used on all the farming and landscape as well as the removal of car use within all major nodes within the development.
